^_^

Yeah, admittedly, I should have spent a whole heck of a lot more on this behemoth, but I am very happy that I was able to walk away with her (well, drive away, that thing weighs a metric TONNE) for that price.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that all of the buses are PCI-X soooo, yeah, it's difficult to find anything under 300 bucks that will work on those slots, gig Ethernet, ultra-stupid-video crazy graphics processors and that's about it . . .due to the architecture of PCI-X, sound cards haven't been developed for it.

i not a fan of pci express either.
it's getting kind of hard to find some pci parts too. so that means everything will be pci x soon.

I WISH it were PCI express . . . that'd make life a lot easier . . . PCI-X is a lot like PCI but it has an additional channel bracket and setting that make the cards very proprietary soooo . . . yeah

Sucks a little . . .here's the wiki on it . . . .*sigh* I'm trying to see if I can find a PCI-X to PCI-e or PCI adapter . . .

no rack mount no care!

just kidding. dope system. at my last job we used a similar setup for password cracking. i can't remember the specs off hand. low hd space, but i think 4 gigs of memory. dual xeon's. i think we may of been running a 8 gig solid state drive. i have an older scsi setup on my old pc. i think. pci 64 bit dual channel ultra 160 controller with 64 meg cache on the controller. it ran only 2 16 gig drives stripped. what a waste of a card.

i just built a new system yesterday with a buddy of mine. it's the first time in 10 years a system of mine didn't have scsi and an all in wonder video card. this one is also the most stable too.

I'm actually liking the stability of the Ultra 320 setup, it's extremely fast (currently the fastest on the market) and it was definitely a price drop, LMAO!

If it's any consolation, this WAS a rackmount (4U) setup it's just an upright when you remove the rails . . .I still have them if it'll increase my geekdom, LMAO!
