many of us on here are mechanics or at least do our own work. so lets take a look and see what tools we are using to get the job done

i no longer do auto body for a living (thank God) so my tools are in my garage. primer, thiner and other stuff is on the bottom

i had that sticker made up back when i had an altima and i wanted to do a sr20 swap on it, before i even knew what drifting was

i have a tool shed full of tools ranging from precision screw drivers to a 12ton hydraulic shop press and most everything in between. most are craftsmen but some are from harbor fright, depending on the intended use. i've found that doing my own work i have quite a bit of money left over to by more tools. i'll see about posting some pics tomorrow.

Tools are for the weak... I use my hands and teeth.

but I own a pawn shop so I have easy access to any tools I need :)

HAHA, I am embarrassed to even take a picture of my tools. My friend owns a shop and that is where I do all the work on my car.

funny thing is i have a Snap-on box but most of my tools are Mac lol

hey adam about how much do you spend on tools a year? a friend of mine who works on semis and the sort says he spends about $3K iirc. he has snap on and mac too so it's not hard to spend that much a year.

With Snap-On and Bluepoint, I don't see why anyone would need to spend so much... Everything is replaceable with their lifetime warranty, and their stuff lasts.

lol.. well depends when you get to a certain point you dont spend as much because you but some tools here and there that you may need buy you mostly have everything you need for what you work on.

last year i spent like $8k new toolbox and some tools

and btw dont knock craftsman i got alot of craftsman sockets and tools they are awesome.

i needed a Longhandle swivel 3/8" rachet and i asked the snap-on guy he told me $129 lol i went to sears (right next to my job) and got one for $20 and its one of my favorite tools and i broke it once (my fault) took it to sears and got a new one same day. i broke my snap on 3/8" swivel socket and here i am 3 weeks later waiting for it to come in.....and none of my mac stuff breaks

i use a mixture of mac, matco and craftsman. i agree, dont diss craftsman because why pay mac 3 times the amount. not for everything though, just some of the smaller stuff. i stuck with their sockets and their wrencehes and a few air guns that i got a good package deal on. its too easy to rack up a big bill with the tool guys.

i did way more painting then body work so i didnt need a ton of tools. and i used the shop guns for painting. SATA guns are where its at

I wasn't a tool guy when I started working on the car but over the past three years I've come to realize that having the good and the right tools make a job much much easier. Today I still just have a portable toolbox packed to the gills with various sockets, wrenches etc. and anything from no-name to Walmart to Snap-On and Craftsman. I have acquired a couple of specialty "one use" tools, a drill, a dremel(which I love) and some bars and stuff but nothing close to what you guys have. I'm impressed to say the least. :pimpflash:
