What ya think?

I put my car up for sale and some guy offered to trade his 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 112,000 miles and his 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T with "internal work and 14b turbo"

i'm naturally suspicious of trades, i'd insist on cash only or the cherokee and some cash.

the cherokee is not that bad, it's the liberty that should be avoided.

i had a 1998 cherokee, it was great for a little while. then the front axles took a dump, the trans had to be rubuilt, & changing out a fuel pump on one of those is a PITA. i would keep your car. 4g63's are known to have engine gremlins, not to mention how much of PITAj is it to change the timing belt. & those motors are known for snapping timing belts at unknown random intervals, my buddy had a talon tsi & he changed his belt every 40K cuz his dad had a FF talon & went 51k on a timing belt just cruzin down the highway & snapped it. grendaded the head. it just seems like a sketch deal, keep your car. you will be much more satisfied with one good car, as oppossed to 2 bad cars

^^ well, i kind of understand. i have been DDing my full suspension s13 for about 5months and almost wish i would of waited till i had an alternate car. if you have another 240 i'd say go for it. its prob just me, but life without being able to drive my coupe would just suck. if you'r gonna get the jeep, just get the all the drivetrain checked out by a shop. i wouldnt want you to have the same unfortunate experiences i had with one of those cars. keep us posted

just becuase one is bad doesn't make them all bad, i know a guy who has two of them, a neighbor of mine had a '98 cherokee and traded it in for a newer one. all in all they're not that bad, unlike the liberty. although if i had to get a jeep, it would be a wrangler.

^^ very true, & yes i would like a 4cyl wrangler as well . i read an article in some mag @ the doctors office about making your car last longer. funny but true, there was a 97 cherokee & the guy had 200k on the motor & said that he has not done anything special except regular maintenance. but he also said that he had another cherokee & treated it like crap & the engine seized @ 60k. its all about maintenance, what do ya know? lol

wow 450k is really impressive for a gas powered engine. the longest running vehicle i've seen is a toyota truck also, the odometer stopped somewhere around 300,XXX but the truck is still going. but there are some cars and trucks that are just junk and run like crap regardless of what is done.
