rb20 oil?

rb20 oil?

any one know how many quarts of oil the rb20 holds? i was told it was 5 but im not sure.

not sure exactly but start off with 4 then check the dip stick and add till its good then just remember how much u added for next time

On nico it says 4.25 quarts. So just add like 4 then a splash.

what wieght oil would you recomend using??and is there any special brand that the RB motors love??

since you live in SC... you are not near freezing weather... 10w 30 would be fine

ik this will sound stupid...but if i just got the motor is it safe to swich to synthetic?

well you have no idea what was run before... i run synthetic in all my engines... onething Syn oil does is if you have bad rings/seals the oil will get by... which indicates that it needs to be overhauled.

general rule of thumb... once you go to Syn you can never go back to conventional regular oil... at the least you could go back to a syn blend..

i mean your motor will not blow.. but that syn oil works its way into your metals for extra protection and you just wanna keep it that way.

so even though idk what was run in the motor before i got it, i should be safe swiching to a fully synthetic oil!?!

but then again, its just an rb20 in a 240. And with gas, oil going up. id just run 10w30.

yes i pay 5 bucks a qt for my oil.. pretty normal.. has always been that price

ok...well ill just feel safer runing the synthetic, but gas prices dont bother me because im already having to run 93 oct. in my other car..any particular brand that the RB's love??

alll turbo motors are suppose to have hi octane only bro... prevents detonation

yea ik that.i was talking about the oil....castrol?royal purple? i just didnt know if anyone recomended any particular brand..
