just double checkin to put the rb26 into a s13 does the rb25 tranns bolt right to the rb26 or does the bell housing need to be modified? also i've been hearing that some ppl are makin like 350hp on the stock rb26 wit the rb25 tranns. tkx

Not to sure about that but turbo z32 uses the same 240mm clutch. ill check that

 

the rb26 clutch will NOT work.. you need to get a clutch for the rb25 transmission since the 25 and 26 have opposite operating directions (one is push and the other is pull.. not sure which is which though)

 

The 26 is a pull type clutch. The stock engine setup will support 400+whp WITH proper management. Stock injectors are 440cc's and the stock turbos can support in the neighborhood of 500whp. Everything bolts together, but to get it in to a s chassis it takes a good bit of "bash to fit" with a 25 tranny. It's not as bad with a 20 tranny.

Yeah you're right the oil pan issue is a ***** to deal with. I've done a couple of 26 swaps, honestly if I build another rb car, it'll be a neo 25.

My 20 has been really good to to me. I have'nt had any major issues with it. At 18 pounds, it's a stout car to measure up to. I'm going LS1 if i suffer from catastrophic failure. If it last a year or so, I'm going to stroke it to 2.4L.

 

Stroked it to 2400 CC. No LS1 will sound as sex as that.

 

the RB20 tranny and RB25 tranny are the same.. depending. the RB20 used the 71C 5 speed variant as did the RB25... depending if it has hicas or not. some RB25's used the 71C (same as 240, silvia, etc) and some used the larger based 300ZX tranny. bith fit fine, and no beating is necessary. that is only done by thoise who have no patience to do it properly and take their time. use the RB25 flywheel, clutch, and oil pan. you can use the RB26 oilpan, but it requires fabrication and welding to make fit.

 

With the "300zx" based tranny you have to beat in the fire wall at the base of it. If you don't the drivetrain won't sit straight, the problem is the area on the tranny were the starter is located. Same with the 20 tranny, but not nearly as bad. All of my info applies to a rb swap using a mount kit, I've never done a swap using a skyline/cefiro crossmember.

 

ive alwasy used mount kit and have never had to beat in anything. and they fit perfectly well.
