hello
Hello all, i'm in the process of getting the funds together to get a 240sx and eventually do a engine swap on it as well. I"ve found a 1993 with only 105k miles on it for bout 2 grand and was just wondering what year/models you guys recommend based on your experiences? Also when looking at the cars is there anything that i should watch out for? I know i've heard some negative things about the sunroof. Anyway was just looking for some feedback from people with a little more experience in this, also i live in the atlanta georgia area and does anyone know of shops nearby me that do engine swaps?
thanks
thanks
Welcome to the forums. Depending on what you want to do with your car, and the funds available, you should think about what you really want out of your car. You mentioned an engine swap, although what do you want to swap into the car, and what kind of horsepower goals are you looking to achieve? What kind of car do you want?
When looking for ANY kind of car, it's a good idea to look for things like rust, how well the engine was maintained, oil leaks, the alignment, if the car has been in any accidents, anything in the interior that could cause problems (molding carpet, etc).
If you can, do a compression/leakdown test on the engine to see how well it was kept. I think generally compression numbers for the KA24(D)E should be around 150-175 across. Anything lower, and you might have a problem. I'm sure that you want to swap out the engine, but at the same time you probably want something that'll last you until you get the funds to do so.
Good luck with the car situation, let us know what happens. Lot of information to be learned. Before you ask any questions that might have already been answered, my suggestion to you is to search. Welcome to the site.
