Help! 3rd brakelight stays on...

So I burnt some fuses and only my headlights and brake lights were working... so I replaced the fuses that were burnt and now all my lights work...but now my 3rd brake light stays on... when i pump the brake.. my GAUGE CLUSTER, HVAC, and center counsole Automatic (P R N D 2 1) lights blink as if they were my brake lights... whats the problem?

REASON: i was trying to install my stereo and i gues it grounded out in the stereo area... all ligths went out.. only headlights and tails were on.

so now i rplaced the fuses that were burnt out... everything seems to light up and work but.

if i have the car on but no lights turned on( no headlights no parking lights) then when i press on the brake my console and cauge cluster blink on... i also noticed my rear license plate light blinks on at this time aslo. all this goes on while no other lights are on but if i turn on my parking lights or my headlights.. my 3rd brake light is fully lit wihout me stepping on the brake pedal.. but when i do step on the break pedal it does get a little bit brighter (very little). Another thing i noticed is if i turn my headlights off while pressing the break the headlight wont go down unless i let go of the break pedal, other wise it works fine... today i also noticed along with the other lights going on while i press the brake are my front orange sidemarker lights... i havent been able to check but ive been told when i press on the break it turns on my front blinkers as if it were the break lights

so keep in mind that i touched no other wiring other than stereo wiring and i changed the fuses in the kickpanel.. it would also help if i could find the diagram of what fuse is what.. cause mine is missing the fuse door.

some more details would help.

like what caused the fuses to burn out in the first place? where you rewiring anything or did it happen on it's own.

i'm gonna guess you were messing with some wires maybe replaced a fuse with one with a higher rate.

Sounds like the wrong size bulb somewhere, or a burnt out bulb.

good that's exactly what i thought you did. i agree with ryguy, you have the wrong bulb somewhere.............no j/k

sorry ryguy i just had to do that.

but anyways what i think happened it that you actually torched more than just the stereo wire. what you probably did was burn through a few wires before the stereo wire fried.

you might have to take the dash off to find the bad wires. what you could try is removing the new stereo fuse and see what happens. if that works you can probably just get power for the stereo from another source, if not removing the dash and looking for fussed wires is your next step.

I say just do like the Z31 owners used to do, simply wire your third light to your brake lights . . .enough wire and proper routing can make anything happen.

But then again, I'm lazy.
