Hey There!

Hey guys,

I've been wantin to get a 240SX for a while, but I've never had the ***** to do anything about it, but I was cruisin eBay lately and decided that the coming years is the time to get one, so I wanted to get acquainted with the forum, as well as learn as much I can about them, which one is the best to start out with, and if there are any other places besides eBay and Craigslist to get one.

O yeah...I drive an 07 Scion tC that lights up like a Christmas tree...lol

Year all depends on personal preference. You can find them everywhere, 240's are like civics. Check your local craigslist, newspaper, or just drive around a lot of used car dealerships have them. I didn't know it took big ***** to get a 240, but if you say so.
When you get your 240, build it right, don't rice it out, know what you're planning to get into:
Shows
Drag
Drift
Auto cross
Daily
etc.

Know how you want to build it:
Turbo
NA
Swap
Stock

Remember: Brakes + Suspension are more important than speed and power. There is no point in having the fastest car if you can't stop it in time.

Other than that, welcome and goodluck on your search/future plans.

EDIT: REMEMBER TO USE THE SEARCH BUTTON!!!!!
9/10 times the question you have has already been answered.

Well I want it to look nice, but have a bit of power, but mainly drift... I'm not a power person at all.

What model of the 240 is best? My friend recommended I get a KA without HICAS

Body styles = hatchback, coupe s13 and coupe s14.

the engine is the same from 89-91 is SOHC and 91 - 98 = DOHC but most people prefer the DOCH.

I would suggest reading some basic articles. if not, some people here are going to belittle you and your gonna leave the site.

Self educate a little.

try wikipedia.

Ok, I did some picture hunting, and Idk....I'm torn between the 13 and 14...are the aftermarket parts distributions the same, or does one have more than the other?

How do I know if it has HICAS or not

HICAS is only on Hatchbacks.

They say hicas on the side.

they have a HICAS light on the gauges cluster,

They have LSD w/ ABS Sensor (i believe)

they have a different driveshaft

They of coarse have all the HICAS equipment

HICAS = four wheel steering, (the rear wheels turn a degree or two at higher speeds.)

KK, I think I want a s14

something like this: Link to example 1

or this: Link to example 2

they are the same type correct? and they aren't hatches so they are hicas-less, and I'm thinking a 1996 and up, as the headlights appear to be different than the 1995

Read this for basics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/240SX

95 - 96 = Zenki = Round = more produced = cheaper = people sometimes convert to kouki front end.

97 - 98 = Kouki = More aggressive looking = rare = more $

Is it hard to convert a Zenki over to a Kouki front end? I assume the Zenkis are the one with the larger headlights

Crazy car!

Zenkis has round headlights/front end.

Kouki has aggressive looking headlights/front end.

They bolt right up.

Need fenders/headlights/grill/hood/bumper (not sure about bumper.)

And rear tailights are different.
