hi- new to board.. had a few questions regarding s13

Hi,
Im considering the purchase of an s13 to replace my prelude that was just sold... Just had a few questions regarding the car. Im gonna go take a look at one tomorrow and its got HICAS. Im wondering if its better to get one without this option, or if it makes no real difference at all- I am planning to do the det swap just in case that matters. On the preludes there were ones with the 4 wheel steering option and im assuming the hicas does the same turning the back wheels. I never got to drive one though.

Thanks!

welcome. as far as whether or not HICAS is better, i dunno. on one hand, an S13 w/HICAS is almost certain to have lsd. on the other hand, i've heard that the HICAS system adds weight, can grow to be problematic after a while, and might give u a hard time should u decide to take up drifting. also, i think u have to get a front clip w/HICAS when u swap, or something like that...

thanks for the info - i decided to pass on that one, although it is pretty tough to find the car in general these days. People think their 130k cars are worth like 4k sometimes... its ridiculous...

you shouldnt of passed on the hicas model. you can disable the hicas easilly.
you also have the LSD in all hicas models.
which means you can swap in other LSD's easily without other axles/flanges.

you can seap out the hicas rear suspension parts for non-hicas parts.

man what a find.
oh well

If you are doing a swap and are prepped to do everything that it involves get a straight chassis with a hurt motor.

Thing is that will give you no time or ride to get parts with and it might end up being a model that just sits in a garage collecting dust.

The SR is not the only thing you should install when doing a swap. It is just the tip of the iceburg.

You can get LSDs for non vlsd (R200) differencials. I run a ATS 2 way. Didn't have to change the output shafts or anything.

I just read it and it started as an introduction so I think it would actually go in the new members section.

me 93 hicas comes with automatic seatbelts, and my girl's 90 came with them too. . .

I like them, they come on for you, and fit well, and I save $5 in insurance a month because I have automatic seatbelts!

I had to get rid of mine. I run s14 belts. They rock the autos.

The autos lock to the point of choking you when you take the car out on the track.
