Talking An idiot falls from the sky

Hello all, I am in Alabama, and my 1990 240sx is the first Foreign car I have ever owned and I really like it! I bought it from a friend for 500.00 and it still runs great. I hope I wont wear you all out with pesky questions, iI have a lot of them!

Well drat! I cant find anyone with a scanner or a digicam, so I wll have to wait on geting a pic to you guys. I am from old school MoPar, so all of this nomenclature is, pardon the pun, foreign to me. You will have to bear with me on some of these things. I know how to make power in abundance, I just need to familiar with the alchemy of these engines. First things first:
JDM
Japanese Domestic Market:
is this domestic from their or our viewpoint?
Thanks

JDM=Japanese Domestic Market (Cars or parts imported from japan)

USDM=United States Domestic Market (US Made parts and cars)

Why the ( I perceive ) the greater desirability or coolness of JDM cars?

1.) They got all the cool stuff (IE Engines)

2.) It is less common to see...so you dont have the civic syndrome!

3.) Just cause!

Seriously...I personally think the silvia front end (s13) looks much better than the Pop up headlights (180sx style) so I will be doing the silvia conversion.

I like the idea of having an SR20DET engine under the hood, a stock turboed engine MUCH better than the idea of a made for a truck engine that the american public got.

Yep, JDM cars are better then the USDM imports here, better engines, more power, and sumtimes better looks.

Ok so my car as it sits has a TRUCK enginei it? UGH! Sucko!
An sr20det engine what is its inherent advantages, How do I identify/obtain said engine for what reasonable cost. Yes, I too like the Silvia front end, much more stylish and classic if you ask me. 2.4L is about 147 cubic inches, so acccording to my MoPar old school thinking, I should be able to get about 180-190 horsepower out of it naturally aspirated before reliability becomes a worry.. Is this thinking congruent to fact or am I shooting submarines in the pool here?
Thanks!

u KAN OBTAIN a SR20 front clip online or a shop around ur town. Dont just go for a engine and tranny kit, go for a full front clip, it would be much better for the long run. They usually run for bout 2 grand - 2500. http://www.srswap.com/ that site should help u out a lot!
