Talking JDM, My <3

Hi 240 enthusiasts! I'm pretty new to this site, and I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm going to be purchasing a 240 soon, and I really can't wait to mod it up (sr20 baby!)

Anyways, if by any chance, anybody knows the registration process for a J-spec (authentic Japanese) car to California, could you please help me out? I'm considering purchasing a RH 240sx, but I'm not familiar with registering it, or how much it will *cost* to be able to drive it on the streets. Help please?

btw: Anyone from SoCaL or Orange/LA area?

I beleive Motorex is the only legal importer, but I could be wrong...they can at least point you in the right direction.

im pretty sure motorex only does skylines because those are the only cars they tested.

there is very limited ways (which i wont go into details...) that you can bring the car over and drive it legally

not legally....but most S13's from japan come over with no engine and tranny...(just not installed) so they can clear customs as a parts car.

that's how they get here. after that you are on your own. you cna pull the switcheroo...which is what i would do..honestly.
so dont feel as we are knocking your hustle...just being realistic

Ok, here is my 2 cents. If I were you, I'd get a whole front clip of the Slivia (not 180SX) and just do the whole thing. In this way you can get a Silieighty with RHD. Not sure if this is the best idea (money and time wise), but just an idea. My friend just got his Skyline back from Mortorex about month ago. It took them almost a year to do his car. He had bought that R-33 for two years and only had in his possesion for just over one year. Rest of the time, it was held by Motorex. So, even if they do do the registration and all that, make sure about the time it will take.
