Just got one

Hey i just got a 1990 240, the guy i baught it from said it blew the head gasket and started spitting coolant out the tail pipe. Any one know what i need to do to start fixing this problem?

you need to take the head off and replace the gasket. but once the head is off it would be a good time to inspect the valves and replace them if needed or get a valve job if needed also. it would be good if you knew what caused the gasket to fail in the first place so you could have a better idea of what needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the welcome, I should have pics up soon, I believe the cause of the gasket blowing was the fact that it kept overheating...possably the thermostat. thanks for the info.

Im gonna stick with my KA. I heard its a stronger block than the aluminum sr... not sure but i dont feel like trying to source out an sr so if some one could point me in the directing of a good turbo for KA's i would be much appreciative.

Welcome!!

When you do the headgasket, if you do it, have the head checked at the machine shop. Overheating it could have warped it, which would have caused the gasket failure.

i think i found the true reason for the gasket failure. I found a big crack in the radiator wich lead to the loss of coolant wich caused the engine to overheat.

ok, so new plan. anyone have the ka engine left over from there enigine swap? I just discovered that my engine is siezed and now im in search for a new engine. If you have one let me know and we can set sumthin up. Thanks

welcome man. i used to live in Jacksonville. moved in 04. Anyways good luck with your car. Prob wont find a KA here. might need to try a bigger forum. or possibly just rebuild yours.
