need some help...

aight its like this i found this 240sx for 1000. the body is almost perfect i think its a 1990. it got rims kyb shock tein springs exhaust system, sound system. small tear on driver side seat and its 5speed. this car is really nice. my problem is that i'm 17 til January and i really want this car but my parents are tripping out with the fact that the car has 189k miles on it. the seller was streight up with me and told me that it would die in 2 -4 months. i want to get it and then swap the engine but i have a money issue. let say by the end of summer i'll have 3k - 1k for the car - gas money - insuranse money - registration fees- engine - engine swap = dead broke by the end of this year however if i buy the car but just leave it sitting i will have around 2500 left over. any ideas on what i should do. coz this car is really nice and really cheap for 1k. people i've talked to say thats its a hella good deal but i want to ask people from a forum to see what they think. thanks for any ideas or thoughts.

That's not really a good deal for a shell - which is what this is.

You can probably get one that will last a while for a little over $2k.... or just get a cheaper car and drive it until you can afford a 240.

I doubt your parents are going to let you buy a junker just to let it sit around un-driveable for a year.... besides, you're vastly underestimating the cost of the project.

Just bringing the car up to a condition that would justify the swap is probably going to cost you another $2k, and a swap will cost $4k or more by the time you've got it in and running.

aight what about this.. i took the car for a test drive... i pulled over and turned off the engine to look at it then got back in the car and it wouldnt start))))) so i talked t the guy and told him that this car is a piece of ****! and he dropped the price to 400 at which i am buyig it. the interior is clean xcept small tear on driver seat. the exterior is not scratched at all xcept front driver side bumper thing but thats aight i think coz i'm putitng a body kit on it. has kyb shocks.. feel nice and drops the car... hella loud exhaust... and ok rims. otherwise the brakes and clutch squick... he took out the deck)) i noe its gonna cost alot but i think in the end it will be worth it. i dunno maybe i am wrong but ... i wanted to do this for a lmost 2 years. any ideas on what i should do to it first?

Tip of the day...
Before you put a body kit on this busted *** ride, make sure it's gonna make it to the garage...
And back...

if it didn't have as many miles on it than 400 wouldn't be bad, but I dunno, I found my 89 with a running engine(piece of crap the engine was though) anyways, I decided to get it because it only had 69,768 miles on it and I got it for 500 bucks, but it's up to you

PASS on the car. If you really want a 240sx, at least find a decent one... not the first one available.
