first questions:
1. reliability of a sr20det
2.how does insurance/registration work with a swap?

This may be a life change for me. I am in the european car scene, love my audi except for the lack of acceleration. Buddy took me for a ride in his s13 bone stock sr20det and it has raised my eyebrows. So, I may be making a switch if i can find the right car. I don't want to get in the drifting scene, but rather DE's and auto-x.

Also,
I am looking for any leads to a Sr20 swapped 240(clean swap, no corners cut) I want a clean car with none or minimal body mods and no rust. And i want it in the midwest (close to ohio). would like to be looking below 8000.

So Hi!

Thanks

welcome to the forums

not sure on the reliability, but the engine is totally illegal, so dont think you wanna tell your insurance or your local dmv

Okay look, as long as you dont crank up the boost, the sr20 is a pretty hardy engine. As far as insurance goes, youre not gonna want to tell your insurance company about it. What they dont know wont hurt them... much. Anyway, its federal law that you cant swap a sr20 in your 240. That isnt to say that you cant do it anyway, but dont try it in a smog enforced area.

Welcome Good thing you live in Ohio and not in Cali like me. You have a better chance of surviving with an sr20 than over here Like LA_.... said, keep the boost low and you'll be fine.

hmmm federally illegal doesnt sound too good. It will be hard to convince my dad to insure an illegal car too. Does anyone in ohio know how it works with e-check? Is it really that big of a problem to get around?

Thanks for the help guys

e-check? whisky tango foxtrot? well insure the car first, then worry bout how illegal it is... belive me, unless they come and inspect your car for whatever reason, you have nothing to worry about

Think about this, if we tried to keep everything legal, how would we mod our car?

no, they way i think it would go down is they would only insure for what the car is worth stock. They wouldnt acknowledge you had the motor. At least i think thats it
