New to 240's

Making myself known. How's it going? New to 240's. My son was given a 90 hatch last year when I first joined the site. It had water leaking into the oil so we re-worked the head a little and had it pressure-tested and all but still no good.

Sold the hatch and the person I sold it to found the problem to be in the timing cover (huh?). He had it running for 3 weeks before it blew. Not sure if he blew it or if it died on him.

Now my son found another 90 model and it is a coupe. Crappy wheels on it but we can replace those later. I like it. It is growing on me. Still stock for now but we have intentions on making it fast and safe! Body work, electronics, etc. Fun for me and my son.

I'll be using the search button a good bit I imagine. Factory Service manual is helpful but there's nothing better than first hand knowledge. Also doing all this in the great South, Mississippi. Not too many places around to enjoy imports here. Oh, don't get me wrong they're out there, just no one seems to want to organize. Wanting to do it myself if possible.

My life story! check us out on the web at www.alexjones.biz cya!

hello there.
as with any older car it is always a good idea to fix whatever is broken rather than spending money on no essential items.

Welcome man, its cool you are doing this with your son. Me and my dad work on my cars and it's really good bonding time.

I agree. We're going to make it mechanically sound and safe before fast. Don't want my son to pull a "nick".

Yeah, we have sort of the same tastes when it comes to cars so it is fun. Although it seems I do most of the work but he is learning.

I really like your ride. Looks like it is in very good condition.
