Get some kind of locking (or locked aka welded) diff throw some ok coilovers on it, get some spare wheels, get as much seat time as possible. Go from there. Just get out there and have fun.

You dont have to. You can buy an lsd, and a quality one will work wonders but they are usually pretty expensive. When I got my KAAZ 2 way limited slip I paid 400 shipped but a close friend knew the ceo of kaaz usa so that helped. I believe they retail for about 600-800 bucks. Other brands can go for a hell of alot more though.

If the only thing you really plan to do with your 240 is drift and daily it a welded diff is fine. You can usually get an open diff welded for about 15-60 bucks depending on who you take it to. People complain that they suck and blah blah blah but they are cheap and easily replaceable. Just make sure you take it to a welder who knows what he is doing and puts down some quality welds.

Me personally, I like 2way clutch type diffs, just from my experience they feel great (they feel nothing like a welded and are fine for road racing/autox unlike most people will try to tell you) and lock up when you want them to. A welded is cheap and available though. Seeing as how I am desperate for seat time and just ready to get my car running I'll slap in a welded for the time being and get another 2way when I have the money. This is all just my personal opinion though. Different people will tell you different things. Bottom line is, if you are drifting just get a locking rear end that locks when you want it to, or at least one that is easily predictable.
