Hello.. I just got a $1,200 240sx.. Is that about right for a fair condition 200K 240sx?

Are 240sx with KA motor reliable? Mine is a daily driver...

I noticed there could be a ring problem, since it's burning blue smoke.. And tranny is making noises, I'm thinking it's one of the bearing inside the tranny... since it only make the noise with the clutch is engage at the flywheel...

Are those problems common on KA 240sx? With everything said.. the car still runs good...

So did I get a bad buy?

Welcome to the forums. For a 200k car, it looks clean!

The problems you are having are pretty common for a engine that has that many miles, same thing with the tranny. Get those problems fixed ASAP, or drop a lower mileage KA in there.

 

You would do better to just drop in a new engine in my opinion with such high mileage that engine is reaching its golden years.

 

hey are they're any other 240sx forums?

It seems like I'll be doing an engine swap sooner than I thought....

So you guys think it will be cheaper to get a lower mileage engine than trying to rebuild it?

and do you know any good sites with good info on all the different SR engines?

Today.. I've decided to fix the tranny bearing problem.... It took few long hard hours to get the tranny out...

I'm suspecting the input bearing is bad..

Does anyone know where I can get a clutch kit for cheap?

 

I've found a OEM Luk clutch kit for $107... I think that's a great price..

 

Never heard of luk, exedy is quite good though

 

Many cars are equiped with Luk Clutch from factory......

so far... I've found these problem to my 240...

- Rack and pinion has an internal leak...
- u-joints need to be replace...
- working on the tranny bearing..
- bad valve stems or rings....
