new, to board, and 240's

First off, let me start off by saying you guys have a kick *** board here. I'm Jaime(hi-meh), out of Austin TX. Just thought I'd say hello and ask some quick questions. Right now, I have a 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra(boo!) I used to love this car, bought it when it had 60k miles. At 91k miles, the motor blew up. Sucked, but I figured it was something I did to mess it up. So I bought a new stock motor to put in it, and at 97k miles, that one blew up. That one was okay b/c warranty took care of it. Anyway, point being, I'm not usually a guy to diss on certain car manufacturers just becuase they are jap or american, I'm a car guy all around, but I f'ing hate ford now. Due to personal experiences of course. So i'm selling my car soon, with the new motor only haveing 1k miles on. My friend took me for a ride in his AE86 to show me what the big deal with drifting was, and I was in love. So now I want a car I can drift too. What I'm asking is what are my options for 13k? That is what i'm getting for my car btw. 13k including car, plus I have a daily driver, so I can buy a cheap 240 that doesn't have to run, and put new motor in. What would you do with the 13k? I need serious suggestions and ideas. One thing is for sure, I'm going S13. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the book, and I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you guys on the board.

Welcome to the forums!

With 13k you have quite a lot you can do...You can get a 97-98 240SX and do mild stuff to it but have a kick *** looking car!(And pretty rare)That would cost you ...9k-11k
You can get a 95-96 for about 4k-7k and do a lot of suspension work and enging work to it. To much to list
89-93 240sx from 300(blown engine)-3k. And do a LOT of work on it.
What you do is up to you...but If I were you I would get a S14 and do soem mods to it. But the NUMBER one thing you can do is get some seat time in the car...see which one you like and buy it. Drive the hell out of it in stock, learn how it reacts to what you do and etc.

Happy hunting
