New Guy Just Saying Hi

Well, I'm new to this site but, i'm not new to the car import scene. I recently purchased a 1991 Nissan 240sx SE. It runs very strong. I want to make it a daily driver drifter/dragger. So any advice would help.

welcome to the boards. like JynX said, get some seat time. u can drift the car in it's stock, out-of-the-box state. upgrading this and that won't do ish for the development of driving skills alone. there's no replacement for experience.

Finding places to drift without getting pulled over is a problem, lol. I don't know anywhere around where I live either where drifting is safe, especially now that it's winter, lol.
Welcome to the site, please search before you ask any questions and other than that we are here to help.
My advice would be a full tune-up for your car, plugs, wires, o2 sensor, fuel filter, fuel injector cleaner, clean the MAFS & throttle body, etc. For drifting, you're going to want to upgrade your shocks & springs, add some strut bars in, maybe some bigger sway bars & tc rods, and then go nuts!

one thing u can do is post in the regional sections of the message boards and find out where there may be events in ur area. things like Drift Days, DG Trials, local D1GP events, etc. usually either a track or parking lot w/cones, completely safe (well, mostly ), and legal. if ur in Cali, there are events all over the place there. the Northeast has a lot of stuff happening as well (u can talk to Stanbo about that since he hits almost every one up there). i'm also hearing that both the ATL and Florida are seeing more legal drift action. i dunno about anywhere else (well, maybe the mid-Atlantic). but yeah, see if u can find out what's up in ur area.

This is gonna sound similar to the above...

... best advice - get to know your car. How it's put together, how things work, how it reacts, etc. Get to know it's limits (albeit, in a safe and controlled manner) and it's weaknesses.

... 2nd - research everything about your car. This forum is a good start. A lot of people underestimate the power of that SEARCH button.

... 3rd - be your own mechanic. Do the oil changes yourself. Rotate the tires yourself. If you have little mechanical experience, invite a friend over who does. You will learn so much just by hands-on, especially when you're working on YOUR car.

... 4th - Get a girl who knew more about drifting than you did at first. Wait. NM

Oh and welcome

Well, thanks guys..i actually bought the car with Tokico shocks and thats about it except the eclipse and infinity sound system but, that really doesn't do anything for drifting. Yes. I have researched a lot about my car. I am beginning to get the feel for the limits and its boundries. For example, for the moment my car is stock. But, i know for the time being its power range is in the 4-6k rpms. I also know since the shocks have been upgraded my car has very little body roll in power slides and drifts. I have drifted my car a few times. Illegally, i'm sorry. But, i cannot help but, try. I have found a parking lot where seldom people use and its wide open. yes i will take a risk by practicing there. But, i live out in the middle of the desert. Thank you i will write again. And yes i do know the imortance of the SERACH BUTTON....lol. But why search when i can ask you guys. HAHA

Must be easier to "pick and choose" quick (illegal) spots to drift in the desert, compared to where I am ... IN THE MIDDLE OF SUBURBIA

Heh slide safe bro!

well, l2aine, it kinda of is but, the police out where i live have nothing better to do than to pick on the import guys. Although i prefer drifting to street racing. Simply because, it takes more skill. But, i'm not knocking draggers but, i'm just saying you know. Oh. whos the girl in your pic l2aine. Shes pretty. Hey, and i always try to drift safe. but, thanks.

That is my beb. My girl. My woman. My chick.

Around here we call her "DriftGirl" because she likes everything related to Drift, knows what an FC3S/S14/R32/SW20 is, and when the term "clutch kick" came up in a conversation, she schooled one of the guys on what it was
