New here with an S15

What's up people? My name is Brian and I live in Japan (US Air Force). I recently purchased a lightly modded 2001 Silvia S15. I'm basically looking for similar car people to talk to, ask questions, or answer questions if I can. Anyways, I guess I can't post pics yet...so I'll just have to post some more until I'm allowed to show my car. I had an 06 350Z prior to moving to Japan and an 03 RSX type-s that I turbo'd. So I've had some experience with cars you can say. I used to be a big time car stereo fanatic, but that has calmed down a lot! I enjoy simple systems now in my car(s). I've been in the Air Force for 12 1/2 years now as an aircraft electrician. Oh, I'm 31...but look and feel like I'm about 24.

-Brian

Welcome to the forum Brian, You've come to the right place. I've been on here for about a year now and there hasn't been one question the other people on here haven't been able to find an answer to. The service members are really stacking up on here haha. I know there's one other USAF member and a USMC member and I'm in the Army Transportation corp.

well you will find after driving the s15 why they discontinued it.

well they have alot of official reasons why but the real reason why is because the 350z came or how they call it over there the Fairlady Z z33 model. they didnt want any competition with their own cars. the S15 looked nicer has more power handles better has better aftermarket support and is cheaper then the z33 so they just discontinued it...

anyway i hope you enjoy your new ride. btw the weak point in that car is its transmission once you start making a certain amount of power lets say 300whp (dont quote me) the tranny will start to go. most people just put in the older s13/s14 5-speed in its alot stronger and you should be able to get it cheap over there.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Pics posted in photo gallery. Its only a Spec S, but my plans are to turbo it and swap out the transmission too. I can tell from owning a 350Z that they are weaker, but for the moment...its fine. Oh, and yes...I'm in the market for coilovers right now. My car looks like a 4X4. That's how I bought it.
