new member from long beach, ca
hey guys/gals. my name is kentaro from long beach, ca. I've had my '90 240 for just over 2 years now. originally bought it for dirt cheap as a "temporary" car, but fell in love with it. became a member a few months back, but had been visiting this forum for much longer. just now deciding to introduce myself =P. Thanks in advance for the wealth of knowledge i've obtained and will obtain through this forum.

well, getting a camera has actually been harder than i thought it was going to be. in the meantime, here are some pics of my first two cars: first-gen seven, and my civic. neither of which i have anymore. and a picture of my 240 when i first bought it.
the result of a middle aged lady on a cell phone in a mustang driving way too fast then blowing through a stop sign in a parking lot during pouring rain.
my first gen seven which i owned for about a month.
I actually got this car for free from a mechanic neighbor of mine. i had often expressed to him my interest in rotary engines, and one day, there's an rx7 sitting in his driveway along with the 6 or 7 other cars he usually had sitting around being worked on. i head over to talk to him the next time i see him outside, and he says his driveway is too full, and he would like me to have the rx7. at once i make him an offer on the car (this is about a week after losing my civic), but he tells me it's a gift. of course by this point i'm ecstatic. he told me he had checked it out, and it was in decent shape except the engine needed to be replaced. we started making plans about how we'd go about reviving this car, but then about a week later, i had to fly out of state for a volleyball tournament. i was gone for about 2-3 weeks, and by the time i came back, my dad had sold off both cars without even consulting with me. he sold them for $300 =(. i didn't even see a dime of the money either. oh well, life goes on. perfect oppurtunity to pick up that 240 i had been wanting for so long. too bad i was broke and desperately in need of transportation. with little time, and even less money, i set out to find a "temporary" car, something that i only needed to run long enough for me to save up some and find a better car.
i found this 240, dirt-cheap:

*edited to include the stories behind the civic and rx7.*

Man, at least the headlights on the civic still worked
Man if my dad did that, especially the RX7, I would have gotten into a fist fight with him, or keyed his car, or done something to make his life hell, especially if he didnt even give you the money. If I were your neighbor I would be pissed too.

I was pretty pissed. he hasn't touched anything of mine since. he figured he was doing me a favor selling the civic for me. but he just didn't like the fact the rx7 didn't have a running engine. to him, all that meant was something to worry about fixing. i guess i don't blame him for not seeing it as my neighbor and i did. never was much of a car guy.
