New member and looking at a new ride

Hi I am new to the Nissan Community. Been over on Turbosaturns.net for quite some time now but after two years of moddin' Saturns its def time for a new platform. I am really interested in a Nissan 240sx and i have one question:

What should I look for when buying a 240sx (89-90's) with 100,000 plus miles on it? I dont know the maintainance points on these vehicles quite like I do on GM vehicles. I understand the Timing Belt breaks around that point.

Any help on what to look for when purchasing a Nissan 240sx would be great!

Thanks!
Dave

Welcome to the forums. The 240sx has a timing chain, most problems with it come from the guides, if the chain is bad it's not necessarily a hard fix, but can be labor intensive which can make the price a little much if a mechanic does the work. One big thing to lookout for is rust, other than that I'd check the suspension and make sure that nothing is bent or broken if you don't plan on replacing things right away. Also, you may want to check the bushings on the suspension arms. Otherwise, its just basic stuff you would look for when purchasing any used car.

rusted hatches are a common, but not that important. look for a clean car with few miles and also 89-90 = SOHC, why do you want to buy a sohc?
