Newbie

Hey guys!!

Im a new member to this website.. Im from Canada and im only 16 years old.. i joined this site beacause im am a 240 fan!.. in fact i own three, i was previously an owner of four.. One of wich i took apart completely for parts.. and two are still left..i sold one one of them..a 89 240 fastback red awesome condition.. I did keep the the newer one and gave my dad the black one..i accuired these cars by working for my dad and uncle who own a car dealer, and as gifts from my dad... My dad is planing to do a 260 conversion..pics at car domain website...http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/492802..and i intend to do a s15 conversion to my s13... BTW.. i need some tips as to what to do to my 240sx so if u could gimmie some ideas that are somwhat cost efficient for my car..take a look at my cardomain

Wow, so like while we're deciding what to do with our car, he's got multiple cars. Like one goes in the shop, and the other he has to drive around. That ROCKS!! Well congrads on the cars, and welcome to the forum!!

lol well the timing belt had broken...and my dad know about that the most... The engone was making a weird crack noise and the timing bet guides had gone so we oredered them in and put them in brand new..but now we cant figure out how to start the damn thing... the timing is off..so im helping him with that...

Anybody got any info!?

First of all, it's a timing chain, not belt (it's not a Honda). Second, if your chain broke, chances are that the cams/crank position will be very off. If you just slapped on a new chain without positioning the cam gears and crankshaft correctly, it won't start - and if you keep trying you could damage more parts.

Basically - for both chains, there's a "mating mark" on the sprockets that should match up with the mating marks on the respective chain itself (one of the chain parts is a different color). You'll also have to have the engine set at TDC. The distributor would be reinstalled with the rotor facing the #1 spark plug output... there's more to it than just this, but basically that's how you'd make sure everything is back in position correctly. I recommend checking it out yourself in an FSM - I'm looking at the procedure as I type this, and mechanically it's not difficult; just a matter of getting the sprockets and the chains positioned properly
