Question*With Pic*
Hi everyone, great to be here. Sorry to ask a question so soon but I'm preparing my 1990 240sx for a race in a couple days and am repairing my intake. So here it is...what is the vacuum line to the right of the air box? And what does it do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

AIV. Used for emissions, it pulls fresh air into the exhaust stream to help with operation of the catalytic converter. Remove the rubber hose, you can leave it uncapped, it will not hurt anything.
Or you can do what 90% of the people who put on aftermarket intakes do, remove the AIV all together and plug it at the exhaust manifold. It's useless.
Edit: Oh and take a wire wheel to that engine bay mang, that rust looks nasty.

Thanks a lot Rownan, I won't worry about it then. Oh and you should see the rest of the car lol, the whole thing needs a sandblasting. But I bought it for 300$ so that explains a lot. It's going in a 100 lap race so I hope she holds together. It runs great though so it should be fun. I'll post back with pics of the race and how I do.
