S13 or S14 what do you recommend?

Hey guys,
im really interested in getting a 240 either an S13 or an S14. Question is which is cheaper to own and most cost effective upgrades? How much does each one run for? I like the S14 a little more but i like the 240SX fastback as well. I would like to sell my BMW and get one of these because its RWD and there is a lot of aftermarket and parts are cheap (is that true?) anyway I would like if people gave me some insight on what the real differences are between the 2.

Also which is better for drifting?

Thanks,
-Mark

Well as to one being cheaper to own, I'd say if your not going to do the swap or if you can find an s13 without that many miles or one that was babied, the s14 will be cheaper to own, simply because it is newer. Don't get me wrong though, my s13 has 155,xxx miles on it and it still runs strong, it just burns a little oil. If your going to do an engine swap both are good platforms, I would go with the fastback just because it is my personal preference...As for parts being cheap, i dont know how true that is. I know alot of parts are rather expensive when compared to the cheaper honda parts, but they might be cheap compared to BMW parts But either way, good luck with your choice and i hope it all works out. Oh and I noticed that your name says your in PA..what part you from? I'm from the Steelton/Harrisburg area...oh and welcome to the forums

im in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area. Farther north than you. BTW what is super HICAS? I really like the stlye of the S14 but the S13 is nice too lol. I guess my descision will come down to price v.s. age and miles. How DIY freindly are these cars and are there any good repair manuals?

Welcome to the forums bro, S13 said it all basically aha. Run a search on HICAS or super HICAS and you will find what you are looking for bro. If i were you id buy a FSM or try to find it online to download, i got the FSM for 93-94 S13s and then got it for S14s also i belive. These cars are not hard at all to work on, i love em dearly

awesome, but one problem. before i get to buy a 240 i need to get rid of my E30 (BMW talk). For some reason its somewhat hard to find a 240 around here, especially the S14. I prefer the S14 a little more because it looks a little more modern IMO. I love the JDM kits you can put on them as well. Look super sweet.

95-96 S14 240s are the ones with the more rounder headlights, and usually cost 4-6k and the 97-98 S14 240s are the one with the more square headlights and look totally aggressive, they usually cost 7-10k..yea you heard it 10k haha. BTW, 5spds are VERY hard to find..they are quite rare

I've seen 95 s14's go for as little as $4,000...now 97-98 s14's can for for like $10,000. The main difference between 95-96 and 97-98 s14's is the headlights and the taillights.

I do prefer the later style but S14s are still great looking cars. Can you retrofit the later style to the 95-96? im sure i can get a kick *** body kit but thats when i get everything else done.

suspension is first. in my mind.

also if anyone wants to teach this "grasshoppa" a few things about these cars feel free to IM me on AIM at: Markman5551

also im surprised how much i learned in one day.

Oh yeah whast the average age for people on this board? im 17 btw.
