So I locked my daughter in the car.....

So I locked my daughter in the car.....

OK, so my drivers side door has been giving me some trouble lately,it gets stuck and won't open unless I unlock it from the outside, everytime I make a right hand turn (and sometimes left hand too) the light turns on like the doors open, etc. Well today was the last straw. I stopped by my house to drop something off with my mom, like 20 ft from the car so I left it running (and with the windows up and AC on for the first time, wow it's cold!) and left my daughter in her car seat. I closed the door, gave my mom her stuff and ran back to the car. The door wouldn't open. Well ****! Luckily my fiancee only lives about amile away and has an extra key, but I have to get this fixed! I already searched "door" and "broken door" and got mostly for sale ads. HELP!

Have you tried taking the door apart and seeing if something might be stuck or broken? something might need some wd-40 or if you don't find anything you could always make a copy of your car key and keep it in your wallet.

p.s. you might want to try posting in the general or style section to get more responses faster.

I've thought about that, but I don't know how, and don't have the money for the manual....and with my luck I'd break it more. I've been looking for over an hour for a diagram or something, but haven't found one yet. And honestly, if i took my door apart it would be my first thing to take apart on a car. Ever.

I've got a file I downloaded with a door diagram. I'll see if I can find the site where I got it from.

Found it! woohoo for the history button. Service Manuals just download and unzip and find Body or BP section in the file for the diagram.

Thanks! I've been wearing out that search button, and found some fixes for my cruise control (does ANYONE'S work?) But that diagram was not to be found. Thanks again!

I hope you figure out how to fix your door without too much hassle and $$. And my cruise control works great! I use it every other day.

Well, if all else fails i could always just pop the hood and look helpless. I was in my parking lot earlier trying to clean up my engine a bit, so I can figure out where my oil and power steering leaks are, and TWO people stopped to ask if I needed help! I thought that was kind of sweet.

FOUND IT! When I opened my door this morning, a screw fell out. Turns out the actual latch part was coming unscrewed. So, tightened it up, and good as new! I fixed something!
