Cool Sup Everyone - Some noob Qs

Hey guys. I have a few questions about the S13. I plan on acquiring a '91 fastback whenever my financial situation permits, and I plan on it being a daily driver that is suitable for some track use. I'm only 18 so I want my car to be fun, but I also respect the power of a motor vehicle and nature of motorsports, so don't worry about me gettin all Fast-n-Furious on your asses or nothin like that.

1.) The city I live in has bad streets, so I need a little ground clearance... For this reason, I'm wondering if bagging the vehicle is possible, and if it would have any adverse effects on the car for drift purposes. I know suspension plays a significant role in drifting, so I don't really know if it's practical (or, to be honest, possible on a 240).

2.) I live in Southwestern Ontario. I've noticed a few other members from around here, and was just wondering if maybe some of you can give me a little information on the motorsports venues in this region and maybe about local Nissan or 240SX clubs.

3.) I'm not interested in complex body kits, but does anyone know where I can get just short black lip/skirts, a la RX-7? (Teehee, that's the only example I could think of.) I wanna maintain a bit of a sleeper look, so I don't really want any overly exaggerated body work. For now.

4.)Another question I have is what are some things to look for in an S13 fastback when selecting a vehicle? Like, what are some common problems that the cars will have. I'm not too concerned with the engine being in pristine condition, as long as it's still functional. (I won't be buying the car until I can also afford to do a swap.)

Thanks in advance for the help and I look forward to reading your replies.

Peace.

(P.S. - First post. And I know some of this belongs in other areas of the forum but I figured that since the main questions I had were pertaining to motorsports that I would post in here.)

Im moving it to new members..., most of your questions dont pertain to motorsports/drifting.

Firs off welcome to the forums

1)Im guessing you mean Air bags? That will not work well for drifting AT ALL. In short..it will suck. If you want ground clearance...get coilovers and have a higher ride hieght on DD roads, but when you go out to the track lower it to your liking
2)Not in that area so dont know, Im guessing Ontario, Canadao...so search and post in the canada/international forum
3) There are no short sideskirts I can think of...but check out the style forum for that. Also check out the OEM lip
4)Check out the FAQ section, we have a thread asnwering exactly what your asking.

Welcome to the forums

Like Jynx said, I'm sure airbags would completely suck for drifting. As for the kit, you can try the PDM kit, it's not real flashy

and also like Jynx said, check out the faq section, and if all else fails, google it

welcome. i really don't have much to add, but i will suggest that u get either a coilover set or a shocks/springs combo w/adjustable ride height to help ur situation w/the bad roads.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. Sorry about the confusion, I'll try to look through the whole forum before my next post... LoL. Started reading the forum and kinda jumped the gun, I guess. I was going to post just the question about the suspension but I changed my mind mid-post. I kinda figured the bags would be a bad idea, but I'm rather inexperienced with a lot of this ish, so thanks for the hospitality and suggestions. Greatly appreciated.

Off to the FAQs.

After some thinking, I don't think any sort of body work is practical for me. I'm inexperienced when it come to driving cars with low clearance, and as I already mentioned the roads, I don't think that's a good combination. I'll probably keep the whole thing looking stock or close to it. Prolly end up with a bunch of JDM accessories. But I got plans for the engine bay... *evil grin*

I've got a lot of things on my plate right now so I'm trying to work out a budget that'll have me a car by mid- to late- winter. In case you're wondering why I'm asking these questions so far in advance, it's cause I just kinda fell in love with the 240... It's what I've been looking for since I was like 13 years old, hah. Now I've found the car I've been looking for so I wanna know as much as possible about it. I always ramble for a paragraph or so... I can't help it.

Thanks again guys. Peace.

Sorry about the double post. Forgot about the unlimited edit time... Not used to it.

Anyways, all I needed to know is would someone with no experience be able to swap an RB20DET into an S13 with the right tools and determination? Or the majority of it, at least. Just curious.
