Um, Hi

Hey guys, wassup? Just got a 240, love it so far, its a 1995 240SX SE, and its prolly one of the more fun cars Ive had the pleasure of owning. I was over on another forum, and well, apparently they dont like to get traffic, because theyre mods are, well, ok theyre asses, but w/e, so a friend of mine pointed me to this forum, and it looks cool, so I figured Id hang out. I also had a few questions I was wondering if you guys could answer.

First off, this is my car:

By far my favorite color on these cars Emerald!! YAY!!

Ok enough happiness (emo!1!!1!)

*ahem*

ok anyways, first question, is factory paint still available on these cars, or am I gonna have to have a paint shop guestimate the colors for any body parts I add or replace? If you can still buy factory paint, Id rather spend the money to have it done right, but I doubt it since the car was made 11-12 years ago... just thought Id ask.... Cuz the front bumper has some cracks in the paint (like some one rested their fat *** on it) that I wanted to fix.... Im so picky about my cars >>

Anywho, like all 240's it has its problems, so Im taking it down to the shop sometime in the next week for a new water pump, timing chain, timing chain guides, and a general tune-up (I would do all of this, but um, my apt complex, is not so keen to my taking my car apart in their parking lot...yah...) But as you can, see, its a great base to work from, and I cant wait to take it as far as I can go

When I get some cash (and not to maintain the noob assylum any) I wanna put an SR20 in it and do a manual tranny swap (ewww automatic!! ok auto isnt so bad, at least it has cruise control! o_0)

Long and short, I love this car ^_^ even if the suspension needs work too o_0 the front left tire um, well, its like possesed, but yah, more on that later.

Welcome, you can get the paint code and they should be able to mix it for you. Theres a color chart somewhere in one of these forums somewhere, I believe its in the FAQ section...

Wow.. welcome to the site, your car is like in GREAT condition on the outside. Sorry about the timing chain. It's not hard to get the paint, just goto Nissan.

lowest quote for timing chain: $550, ouch >>

Just to list allthe things with it that are wrong mechanically:

1. Timing Chain + guide
2. Tie Rod End (not really a major thing (yet) but will be soon enough, it already causes the front end to sway under medium to heavy braking)
3. Basic tuning stuff
4. Somtn Funky with the brakes, he said he just replaced them all,but they seem kinda jumpy....

Percent I could do myself if living in an apartment complex didnt suck: 100

Meh.....

Oh yah and the left backlight bulb for the HUD is out.... and I really dont feel like taking the dash apart to fix it....

I went to make a u-turn today, and I was in kind of a rush (for anyone that lives less than two blocks from a major college knows how hard it is to make a u-turn on a major interchange), and accidently got the back end loose, barely giving it any gas... and was very surprised at the amount of torque.... Cuz this is an automatic, so its not like I popped the clutch or something....

Was very fun, but, unfortunately, was right in front of a cop, to whom I spent thirty minutes explaining that I had just bought the car and had no idea that it would do that, none of which he bought until I told him that I had previously driving a 2000 Cavalier for 2 years, and suddenly, all was forgiven, hehe. Nice guy.....

Anyways....

First Planned Mod: Wheels and Tires, omg the stock ones are ugly! Anyone know a good offset to bring the wheels out even with the fenders on this car?

Bad tie rod ends do not cause understeer. Bad tension rods will.

Your brakes may just need a good bleeding.

S14's in america never came with HUD.

Someone is in a pissy mood, pardon me for not typing out "Behind the tachometerand other gauges" blegh, everyone knew what I meant.... argh people who nitpick make me want to strangle them...... grr >.>

You can search a million forums to find that answer.
So let me get this straight, so, you have the answer, but instead of just typing up something like (-10) you would rather type out a whole sentance berating me for..... exactly what? Ever consider that not everyone has the time to sit down and SEARCH a million forums for the answer? Not everyone's life is their car man.

Bad tie rod ends do not cause understeer. Bad tension rods will.
I never said it did, the front end shakes side to side, nothing about understeer >>, and yes it COULD be the tension arm, again, not all of us are major mechanics, some of us really are slightly inept, and Im sure you too, at one point in your life, were not the car guru you are today, so for those of us doing our best to learn, and at least willing to get our hands dirty and listen to those around us, at least realize that you used to be the same way, and how much you hated it when people made YOU feel stupid, and be quiet till you can not be an ****.

My apologies for asking for help openly, I will refrain from posting any questions in the future.

Hey man just letting you know that you can search.

Not a nice way to start out.

I guess i misread the tie rod question.

As for the wheel question, that has been answered several times with many different answers. There are many variables to determine, depending on how flush you want your wheels.

Now be a nice guy not a smart ***.

I was once a newb, but i learn its best to research then ask. As should most of you.

Thanks, it is for the most part, just has some issues I need to work out, mostly with cracked paint on the front bumper, and one of the side markers isnt secured properly.
