Your best bet is to check the going rate for private party on www.kbb.com (kelly blue book)
That's the first place I go when buying or selling.

what ever you do, do not paint it... I personally can tell right away if a car has been painted, and that is a huge HUGE negative for me.
Your car is worth good money without a half *** respray job.
If you do decide to paint/fix it, don't go cheap because it shows.

I have to agree, whatever you do DO NOT PAINT THE CAR.
For the amount of money it would take to get a great paintjob, you would lose a ton of profit. and a cheap paintjob will make it look wrecked and badly fixed. I would suggest just leaving it in the condition it's in, giving it a good detail/wax job, and just seeing how it goes. I along with many other people would rather buy a car with a couple dings in it than a car with a ****ty respray.
