I'm looking at a 240 with motor issues. I believe that the car simply needs new coil packs to get it back running consistently.

Please reply if you have a set of coils available for a 92 (or compatable year). Let me know cost and shipping zip code. I can pay viacheck or paypal. whichever's easiest.

those years dont have coil packs. they used a camputer controled distributer system. theres a coil, and distributer. if you need the coil i have one from a 91.

 

Ah, Interesting... Here's the problem the car is having: It will run for a while, either driving or at idle and then the motor will just die. Lights remain on in the car/dash. The starter works and will turn over the motor but it will not start. Somtimes it takes 5 mins before it will start again, somtimes 3 hours.

My guess is that the coils were having issues. Perhaps I'm wrong though. The plugs and wires and the distributor has been replaced. So I was thinking either a coil or electrical issue.

Any other guesses? Do you think replacing the coil will help?

it sounds like it could be the coil overheating, or an internal wire is busted, and when it warms up the circuit breaks, causing the ignition to stop working. i have a coil that i will sell for 35 shipped.
