5 Lug Conversion

I was wondering has anyone here done a 5 lug conversion for their 240's. I was wondering also since i have a 90 240 would there be a limit to what years i could use for a 300 zx or newer 240's?

Any information like time, cost, problems would be helpful!

Taken from the FAQ im writing..
Here is a list of what you will need to complete your 5 lug swap.
-S14 SE Hubs
-S14 SE Spindles
-S14 SE rotors (or any other 5 lug rotors that work properly on the 240)
-5 lug wheels
-New brake lines
-New cotter pins
-Wheel bearing grease
With all of that you will be set for the 5 lug swap, but at a pretty hefty price. This swap can cost you close to or over a grand for everything.

I havent done the conversion personally..just helping you out

I had no idea i read it in the november import racer magazine and they made it seem cheap basically just the purchase of the hubs and a day and it could be done. The hubs they say they got were about $50 a piece!

Thanks for the info!

Your right it looks expensive. So when are you going to finish your write up? I was thinking of using the 300zx rotors and callipers until i can afford the big rotor caliper conversion. Are the s14 rotors as big as the 300z? I was going to use the tires from which ever conversion i was going to get until i decide what rims i can get.

Im almost done..just been a lil lazy and confused on how to do it. The Z32(300zx) calipers and rotors are bigger then the S14 brakes.

Take your time because it will be my bible when i do the conversion do not leave out anything...

The s14 & z32 is roughly the same price to do the conversion?

at heavythrotle they have conversion sets starting at around 600 dollers, and go upto 899 for a full front and rear, slotted drilled brimbo roaters 300zx break calipurs and heavy metal breakpads, and they will drill the 5 lugg dics into 4 lugs so you dont have to do 5 lug conversion if your just doing it for better breaks, i think thats the best price i could find, PDM-Racing.com has the conversion for just the front set of breaks for 900 dollers.. so it just depends where you find the parts

the only advantage i've heard and read about the 5 lug conversion is just a wider choice for wheels. are there any other advantages from switching over to 5 lugs instead of keeping it 4?

Uhmmm...you can upgrade to Z32/R32 brakes or whatever 5 lug brakes you want to. You can do that with 4 lug...but you have to re-drill holes

Its been difficult to find these hubs to do the conversion everyone wants to give me the whole spindal.......
Right now i found a guy that said he can get me the whole spindal for a buck a piece ($100 slang) for all 4 but i am not sure that i need the whole spindal though.

I am only doing this until i can afford (no time soon ) a big break conversion later...

The advantages for me is the diverse selection of rims and tires (which will be a set of advan TCII GTR design), z32 bigger breaks and calipurs than stock, secures better stopping, secures better wheel to car!
