ACT Clutch review
ACT Clutch review
Well I just recently installed an ACT clutch. All I can tell you is that everyone should get the ACT. I got the street model because this is my daily driver. First it has a very quick engagement, and kicks in really well. Sometimes, my tires sqeak when I change gears. If you have a short shifter and an ACT, your set.
I've also got the ACT clutch (Heavy Duty SS; holds upto 267 ft/lbs) installed. It was definitely stiffer than stock but just perfect for me. You can still maintain a good level of comfort. The first time I drove it out of the garage, I stalled cuz that thing KICKED BACK at me. heheh shhhh. I didn't know it was that stiff. But after breaking it in, it felt much better and the engagement was quick, but doesn't jerk you around like race-spec clutches.
I don't know why people compare this, but I was capable of chirping in 3rd gear, and *sometimes* 4th if i REALLY jam it in. Guess it gives an idea of engagement power. For a good comparison, the ACT clutch was slighty stiffer than an OEM rx7.

That's almost/is race spec. Why would you want to do that? I dont now how much feathering you can even do with that. If you doing that turbo I wouldnt suggist it.
My freind just put a heavy duty one on his MR2 and it was so hard to control he had to have it done again.
even if your gonna do a swap you probably not goin to hit them numbers any ways.
267 is plenty much.

I don't think I would ever use another clutch other than an ACT one. I have a street/strip and I love it. As far as 4 or 6 puck clutches go they are sweet but only for racing. They have an instant release making feathering extemly hard. If you daily drive a puck clutch then you are insane in my mind.
Also, Puck clutches are also made to wear faster than ordinary clutches. Therefore defintely not a daily driver clutch and also they are clutch that are not puck which will be good at Street/Strip. I would also look into SPEC clutches. They are very good IMHO. I have bought 2 of them so far (For 2 separate cars). Pedal pressure is actually very clsoe to stock and a lot more ability to handle higher HP.

Yup, those are the two that hold 342 ft/lbs.
