Newbie needs help with CAI

Hey guys I just bought a 91 240 fasback. LOVE it. I also just ordered a Injen short ram intake and I was wondering if adding the cold air extension was worth the extra $100.

I live in Bowie MD not to far from D.C. I just installed the intake and I think Cold air extension would make it sound alot better.

I'm not too familiar with the weather over there, but I agree with 95_240. If it is wet often where you live, then don't get it unless you don't mind removing it everytime it rains hard. It will probably give you a few hp, but if any water gets sucked up into the intake, your engine could blow.... it's not worth it for me , but it's up to you!

you should be fine...barring a hurricane or torrential downpour...in that case, take the extension off...

i dont think there are any true Cold Air Intakes for the 240...both AEM and Injen are good choices, AEM being less expensive, but Injen giving marginally more power, also, Injen makes a Cold Air Extension, which creates the cold air look...ive seen the AEM for as low as $135, and the Injen as low as 150-200 range...

I don't think the extra 1-2HP you'd get out of the entension is worth the $100, but thats my opinion. I'd rather get a headlight cover with the vent, that looks badass, or build a custom intake that goes where the battery does. With the injen extension, that piping is so damn long, lol. Although, the extension does help get colder air.

another question guys... what the major difference between the CAI and regular intake....i know cold air is better for the engine's performance but is it drastic? does anyone know how much HP you get from the intakes??

really, there is no noticeable power difference, the only difference is the air might be 10 degrees cooler, but obviously if u look at the performance numbers, it doesnt help much...there are no true CAI kits for the 240 for a reason, it doesnt make a difference...
