Phantom Grip

I was looking on nopionline.com and saw that they had a limited slip conversion kit that they call the Phantom grip. I was wondering if anyone has tried it or if they think it would be worth about $300.

not worth it bro, a lot of people who've tried these end up with broken pieces of metal and stripped or damaged diff gears

Yea, dont get the Phantom Grip, they suck. One guy up here in Oregon has tried it out and it broke his first run down the quarter. You can check it out, the website is www.ka24det.org

LOL. Yea I know. I was tired at the time....it was a long day for me. But anyways, the Phantom Grip is crap, so dont buy it!

I have a phantom grip in my 240 with no problems. I ran a 1.9s 60 ft with it and my diff didn't blow up. That was on 10psi with a T25.By its very nature it does grind on the differential gears to get a lsd affect. You have to have some knowledge about differentials to install it correctly.As long as the differential is in good condition to begin with there shouldn't be a problem.

I dunno man... everyone I've talked to that tried a Phantom ended up having to buy a new diff

I also read alot of bad stuff about them on the 240 forums. I have also read alot of good stuff on FWD forums. Its my personal opinion that alot of them aren't installed correctly, but thats just my opinion.

That's because a front wheel dive turns the wheels, the still turn almost exactly even. On a RWD you make a turn and the inner tire has to turn less than the outside, but the phantom grip locks it together, therefore it destroys you differential. I have had the phantomgrip LSD (bold) conversion(/bold) on my Acura Integra (FWD honda) for almost a year now, and have yet to have a issue.

the arc of the two front wheels is still different, although not as much as the rears...

...and yeah, most of the bad stories or experiences I've heard about Phantomgrip coincidentally happens to be mostly RWD.
