The 92 fastback I just picked up...

to start having some fun with RWD on the cheap.

needs a lot of cleaning as it sat in my friends driveway for about 6 months or so. But it runs great and is strong so it should be a lot of fun. Total clean slate, bone stock car. Looks like it had some stereo stuff but the car looks like it was never modded. Clean under the hood too, no leaks. trying to find some nice wheels for it and some suspension then we'll go from there.

Get the quarter panel fixed before oyu get wheels. I would recomend a tein suspension (pretty spendy, I am putting in sportlines, and koni struts cause I can't afford a tein suspension, but it's a good goal)

yeah I probably won't fix the quarter panel I just wanna fit the fattest tires I can on there and a decent suspension and fix the ac. Gonna be my track/autox/daily car. In reality I don't want it to look all that great so people won't mess with it! I may beat that quarter panel out a bit from the inside though I'm checking out Tein stuff. I got a couple friends who can get them so hopefully I can get taken care of. If not I'm probably gonna put sportlines on it with Koni's or AGXs, kinda of a budget buildup you know? It's already pretty fun though. I need to get to some serious cleaning though on the outside. Interior is pretty nice and clean. Ext is dirty form sitting outside for 6 months and not moving.

It looks like it could stand to be dropped a couple feet

Good find! Looks like it will clean up nicely. Once you get it clean i reccomend mothers carnuba (sp?) paste wax. Its a nice smelling deep cleaning wax.

I can get you a line on some 15" panasports if you want, for probly around $220 a wheel.
itd look like this:

(my last s13)

I think the right tires and suspension are the definite first upgrade for S13's. I wouldnt even get an intake again after my previous experience... a header and 2.25" brm exhaust would be nice though.

yeah a drop is definately needed. So you've seen good stuff from the header and exhaust? I've been looking at the BRM stuff, I'm really impressed with their stuff and price. Haven't seen much info on headers. Hotshot makes one, not sure if anyone else does. What kinda power are people getting with those? The extent of engine mods would be bolt ons, maybe turbo later on, but just good bolt on's for now.

People push 150+ whp with intake header and exhaust at 100,000+ miles. if you find someone who does good headwork, a mild port and polish really opens up other mods... I would not be surprised if 160+whp is reachable without a chip or any other special tuning. That is of course on a happy motor. If youve got inconsistent combustion chamber pressure levels or low compression across the board then obviously its not going to be as much...

If i had the money i'd buy new piston rings, new rod and main bearings, oil pump, rear main seal and get the head reworked with a mild port and polish, new valves/seals/guides, assemble it all with a mild cylinder hone and add a header and exhaust. I'd probably keep the stock intake. That'd be fast enough to scare me when I wanted it to... Its not 200whp like a stock SR20 will give but the KA is a hot little motor in the right hands and i like N/A but thats just me... its a little less to worry about if youre not shooting for 250+whp plus a lot less cash.

150whp in a 2200lb RWD sports car is some hot **** IMO. Not gonna keep up with a 3.2TL but its fast enough to push you back pretty good and smoke up civics and base vw's. As if simply having RWD isnt brag right enough

Edit: the above power reference is for a 5spd. For auto's itd be a little less cuz the motor has to push work through the "slushbox"
