auto body Question?

on an s13 the stock spoiler sucks for rust. anyways im going to do the work myself along with some help to save me in the body shop. Best described, what should one use to fill the holes after its all said and done removing the old rust and such? i want to add a different sleeker spoiler but before need to fill the previous holes what is recommended here i was going to weld the old ones shut and sand them down. just a thought let me know thanks

well to get your filler smooth its all in the sanding. get the shape you want bye useing 36 grit sandpaper after you have the shape you want move to 80 grit then 180 to 240 grit after you get all the deep scratches smooth then you can prime that should help the look of your filler

G3 I have posted before about the holes just could not find it but grind the area down to metal get you some sheetmetal cut it about the same diameter as the hole lay it right on top weld it in place get the grinder out and grind it down smooth as you can get it hit it up with some sand paper start out at 100 or so and smooth it a little more and then lay the filler for the final touch. I have a few pics of the work let me find them.

good plan man weld the wholes shut and grind them flat. i would then recomend a fiber glass filler this stuff is a little harder to work with but unlike normal filler its water proof and much stronger becouse it has small strands of fiber glass.if your dealing with rust always use fiber glass filler. then sand it smooth and brill your new wholes the paint it

well paint really depends on how much money you want to spend the best i think in cutom paint is house of color paint. otherwise
dupont, ppg are great paints for the money. just get some good paint not cheap stuff .

Uh, i suppose i can chime in. *ding*
When welding up holes (ie spoiler holes), use a ceramic tile (ie bathroom tile) on the back to absorb heat [as a heatsink], and to keep your weld pool as clean\small as possible. Granted, your trunk lid might not provide enough room for you to fit a tile behind the spoiler hole, but some do!
