bringing the color up on a 240

i got my 240 recently, and the white paint is really faded and flat. i was wondering what you guys would suggest to bring it up? i got the car washed, then put some polish on it. the bumper came out nice and shiny but on the different material, ie the hood. it still was kinda flat, just looked nicer. i wanted to get a polish compound [not the heavy duty kind] but i was informed that it would ruin the clear coat paint? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

sounds like your paint is oxidized. take it somewhere and have them buff it.

I'm in the same boat as you bro, My white Miata's paint is really faded...you can espically notice it at night. I tried some polish...helped it out a bit but not much.

yeah, a lot of people mentioned compound to me. theres heavy duty [which u have to be real careful with] and polish compound. the polish compound supposedly is good to use if u do it on your own, but then someone told me you can't use it on clear coat. the thing is, im not sure how true that is, i wish i could find out. any ideas how much it would cost for a place to buff my car?

hey, just wanted to let you know that i bought "kit scratch out" its a 14oz yellow bottle. it works great, i did the front of my car today and it realy brought out my color good, ill have to see how long it lasts and if it stays as clean looking as it did. its great stuff and it really shows the color better. it also takes out little dirt spots that wont come off from scrubing with water etc. awesome stuff, give it a shot if u have dull paint.

i used compound on my car. make it look semi new. i used a fine compound and then polishing compound after. the point of using compound it to take a little off the clear coat to make it shiny again. just don't do it every week. lol once a year is good for the compound.

do the buffing yourself.
buffer $10-20
compound $5-10

kit is the company - scratch out is the product.....it was only 5 bucks at pep boys. rub it in, use a little elbow grease to get out little marks let it sit for a minute or two, then wipe off with another towel and you'll really see the shine come up. are those electric buffers only 10-20 bucks? that wouldve made my job a lot easier.

btw, i did it yesterday, and after some rain here it still looks great. great product.
