Caliper Paint

I figured I would make this for searching purposes. Well, I got tired of looking at my old brown calipers and such so I painted them. I used Dupli-Color's High Temp paint for engine blocks (works best). Just be sure to tape everything off. Or you'll end up with pink and red all over your rotors and stuff. Just take folder paper or card bored, and cover up the whole area with it only leaving the calipers. A good 3 coats and its done. I also slapped some Rustolium paint on my hubs to get rid of the rust look. I used this ****ty clear coat that kind of makes it look bad but works for me.

Before:

After:

The clear coat made it look all milky.

Dupli-Color makes a kit for caliper painting. But the all it is is engine block paint, clear coat, and a brush.

very nice. the only reason i decided to go with black was because its a pain keeping the other colors clean.

I thought that too. But black wouldnt stand out as much as red. I think Z32 calipers look good black.

next time disassemble the calipers from the spindles and paint them btter.

the red brake pads tell me you just sprayed as is, and it looks kinda retarded.

But I know you Jake, so you know what I mean

Im not going to go all out on some damn calipers. I mean they squeek all the time as it is. Only crazy people who have way too much time to work on their car would do that. And you cant really even tell that they are painted with my wheels.

Looks clean as hell. Remember, it's only 2 bolts to take the calipers off, so if you wanna be real picky about it, it only takes a few minutes to get em off.

But that looks real nice. I'll have to remember the hub painting idea, that cleans the look up more than I thought.

Don't forget to do your lugnuts!

Wow you guys' idea of "real picky" is pretty easy IMO... to me real picky would be:

1. unbolt caliper and bracket from vehicle
2. disconnect brake line
3. remove brake pads, bleeder screw, and slide pin hardware
4. clean surface with engine degreaser
5. primer
6. paint
7. clear coat

Now that's being picky... all I was talking about was taking the damn brake pads off so at least it doesn't look like you sprayed everything you can see ROFL
