simplest answer to ur question is another question: do u want a convertible or not?

things to consider about the convertible:
* ALL are autos (but an AT->MT swap can fix that)
* least amount of body rigidity (which affects handling; but can be cured w/some bracing and/or a roll bar )
* they are different; a convertible w/any kind of front end conversion (should u decide to do so) would be hella sweet!

just some things to consider. not intended to deter u or incourage u, but rather to inform. ultimately, as i said before, it depends on what u want. hope this helps.

ah ha!! specifcs! much better way to address the question. now, according to edmunds.com, the 93 240SX SE's lined up like this:

coupe: 2772 lbs
convertible: 2800 lbs
hatch: 2803 lbs

i picked the 93 SE's for no other reason than to find the 3 different body types in the same year and same trim level. now, i know the question u originally posted asked whether or not u should get one. the usual response ur gonna get is one like i gave u before, unless u go into specifics. what i mean is what do u want from this car? drag/drift/autocross/track/show/daily driver? along those lines, will cornering be a factor? what role do expect the weight to play? do u like an open air vehicle (or would a sunroof suffice)? when u ask people whether or not u should buy something, u need to break down what about the vehicle matters to u. otherwise, ur not gonna get the responses u want. most common reply will be something like "it's ur money, do what u want". so it helps to provide specifics as to whether or not the car would be a good fit for u.

gah! i thought the convertable was hella heavier becuase of the extra frame work to the chassie because of the lost support. could be wrong.

We only weigh in around 2800. but i thought the hatch was lighter than the verts. guess i was wrong

for a daily street machine, the vert is awesome. I haven't had much time to auto-x with her, so I can't comment on how well she holds up on that aspect, but i have planted her in a ditch (long story). when we pulled her out, she ended up teatering on the edge of the sidewalk and the frame held rigid to the point i could still open the doors.

my only complaint is that the top rattles occasionally, but that's expected.

for all intents and purposes, 2 usuable by adults seats. i'd even go as far as 3 1/2 (since u can probably get about a person and a half in the back). but to actually answer ur question, they have 5 seatbelts, so...

convertible would be nice for the right climate...and as long as you arent too serious about racing...even if you were you still could.....and by racing i mean like autocross or ****

convertibles are just another thing that might break and cost money

i live in canada so unless i had a car just for the summer i;ll stick to non convertible cars..
