Loose Carrier Bearing bolt Loose main wire to fusebox Loose lighting wire to gauge cluster Frequent overheating due to leak Washer fluid reservoir overlows onto the lawn Sending Unit cover is mangled Neutral safety switch either isn't working or isn't hooked up Reverse lights won't come on It has electric seatbelts!!! I hate 'em Paint was done by Maaco and traps dirt Doors were replaced after an accident but the handles/barrels weren't swapped, so I can't lock the doors Things I still need to put in: Racing seats 95 240sx E-brake handle/cable Autometer tach adapter (ECU puts out AC, tach needs DC) Entire lower dashboard/glovebox Springtime plans: 17x8 gunmetal wheels (either TSW Estorils or Ikon Monacos Aluminum radiator Lighter battery with isolation kit (behind passenger seat) FMIC KYB AGX struts Tenzo-R springs Stock 240SX/S13 LSD Front 5-lug upgrade Install e-brake/rear calipers Drilled/slotted rotors w/ ceramic pads Fab a B-Pillar & floor cross-beam Harnesses Remove rear seat Hook up radio/spakers/system Hook up tach Misc. Bolt tightening Maybe an enamel rattle can paint job (just for now - real paint job will come when I have pieced together a front end and rear end) The Story: The car was purchased from auction for $400.00 about 4 years ago. The guy who bought it didn't want to fix the automatic transmission problems the car was having and sold it to someone who sold it to someone who sold it to Drew. Drew did the manual swap, but got angry once he realized nothing was working in the car. He started cutting wires...messing things up further. He parked it and it sat for 2 years. Scotty bought it December 2006, and worked with the guy Don who did the actual swap. They got the car running again, and Scotty started modifying the car while Don was repairing it. Scotty stopped working on the car, Don stopped working on the car. I bought it off Scotty August 2007 for what he paid for it: $3000.00. The inspection was up in May 2005. I am the first person to drive it in 3 years. And I have come to the full realization that this was not the best swap for this car. I welcome any suggestions and help from people who have 240's with RB20/25's. Anyone know where I can get an underdrive pulley? everything on it is great. except the turbo badge that looks like its been stolen from a Porsche
|
dude...don't take this the wrong way...but, you have alot of work ahead of you
get started!!! i want to see this car done |
well its a start but, its gonna need some work.
It's very rough around the edges, like the interior and that HUGE tach. And that turbo badge is completely out of place IMO |
hahah I know! The badge is horrible but hopefully (eventually, but no promises) I'll get an R32 rear end on it and have the OEM Skyline & GTS-T badges. That Porsche duplicate cost $4.00 at Autozone...and I did it because no one beliveed me on the streets. The engine doesn't produce boost in neutral, so no BOV. I don't like lying about things. People who say they have this, that and the other thing bother me. Even if it's in their garage and they're putting it on tomorrow, it's not in there now. I don't want people to think I have a KA24E with a goofy exhaust.
I am reading up on the RB section. Incredibly informative. I have some student loans and income taxes coming soon so that's when the car will be better than it is now. BUT! hahah the woman is mad at me because I'd rather spend the money on the car than the wedding (it's in June 2008) !! What true car fan wouldn't?!? |
please dont get an r32 r/e. clean up your wiring and lower more. Other than that looks like your off to a good start.

neither..i would focus on what needs to be fixed ASAP other then worry about body mods
get it running good and strong..then add stuff to it |
How does it run?
Lot's of wiring issues. I hope your well rounded in electrical and can run a voltmeter. I got an rb20 hatch, let me know if you need some help. |
message left on rb faq about your wipers. also who did you harness or did you do your own? if so i can give links to rb wiring info. also the s13 tach and speedos dont work at all with the rb it looks like you have an rb tach in your cluster so the tach signal is probably not wired up. anyways if you need any help i can help as much as i can but it seems like the rb20 swap was just not done properly. also if your in need of a lsd diff i have a 6 bolt j30 diff for sale that swaps in with no issues, you just have to swap rear covers from your s13 diff to this diff.
|
looks ever so fimiliar......hehe yay another black coupe with an rb20 so i know im not the only one, and no offense either but get all those wires hidden away somewhere and clean things up a bit and she will be good to go

You know, you're not the first to say that to me. How come I hear that? Is it because it is ugly or too hard to do?
|
Yeah dude, I would wetsand that paint and wax it so it looks new.
Fix up that wiring. Detail the motor bay. remove any unnecessary parts. Lower the car and get good wheels and tires. To me that would make the car good for now. R32 etc conversions are too ____________. |

After reading all your guys/ posts on here I'm actually thinking of getting ANOTHER 240 and starting over. Taking this engine and putting it in that car. Then selling this one for parts. Body is not good, undercarriage is not great, lines need replacing..blah blah blah. I can do it, but sometimes I just get so frustrated. We've all been there I'm sure Oh, and how much for the rear diff? I am in desperate need. I don't know about them so what do you mean "rear covers"? The casing? |

R32 etc conversions are too ____________. I can't hide the wiring just yet until I get everything working. That wiring diagram would be a blessing. Intake manifold/FMIC/Aluminum radiator/relocating battery will clean up the engine bay pretty well I hope. Tell me what you guys think: On a budget, I'm thinking KYB AGX struts and Tenzo R springs for now. My ultimate goal is Tein SS w/ EDFC, but that is way out of my price range right now. |
