Lightbulb HID's

This thread is for HID/painted halogen info. So are the Sylvania SilverStars any good? I know that they are not realy HID's, but Halogen Bulbs, but will they be any different than real ones? I really dont want the yellow, and was just wondering if it wqas worth paying the extra money for some PIAA HID's. ?

i had silver stars and get this... i bought all 4 bulbs at the same time. highs and lows. my lows both blew out at the same time and the highs shortly after that at the same time. it happened aprox. a year after i bought them to. i switch to real hid's they are cool but expensive. while i had the silverstars i liked them because i knew they were real bulbs instead of those $6 ebay ones for " tuners "

it produces similar color, but the hid capsule has a broader range of colors, especially in projectors where the light is bent and appears purplish along the cut off line. silverstars really arent worth the money if your looking for more blue.

If u guys are intrested, I can get HID kits for good price for wholesale packages from this guy I kno from LA area. Problem is, I cant bring up the damn website anymore... But I'll call him tomorrow and see wassup with his kits and all that. But Ive personally seen the kits he sells, and their genuine. He'll even throw in 1 yr parts warranty and 6 mnths warranty for the bulbs. But lemme kno if ur intrested... I get em cheaper when the order is larger.

Well how much are they for a 93 SE Hatch? And would they be compatible with the Flush Headlight conversion from Super Made??

as far as the silverstars go....... i havent checked the watt rating on them, but i think they are a bit brighter than the standard halogen. (not 100000x brighter mind you, just a little) you might have to double check that though. the main difference is the color. standard halogens usually give off that "yellowish" tint. the silverstars give off a true white color (no yellow tint). to be honest they dont like like HID's at all. just nicer than the standard bulb, but not by much. when you ask about piaa HID's are you talking about piaa bulbs? or actual piaa HID kits? piaa bulbs run around $70-$100 depending on the bulb you choose, and quality HID kits run from $600-$1000. if i were you i'd save my money if you're just talking about the bulbs. if you're going for the "HID/hyper white" look i'd just find nice bulbs from a local shop to go with. my buddy spent $80 on piaa bulbs and they looked the same as a quality hyper white/blue bulb. the only downfall was the price and the fact that they burned out after a month. yeah he was pissed.

I have silverstars on my car and i really like them. They make a world of difference, especially when HID is out of your price range.

I have Catzz Eye HID's, those really give off a bright light. I got it reduced so it wassnt even that expensive to begin with. if you already had a few bills then might as well get the real thing

As long as no yellow shows, i think ill go with the silverstars. Cheaper, plus i dont really care if there not as bright than hid's.

^ good quality aftermarket lights (bulbs)? usually last 1-2 years. decent/regular aftermarket lights..... usually 6months-1year. cheap/poor quality, 1week-6months (if lucky). careful with buying SUPER CHEAP quality (normally found on ebay), one of my friends bought "HID" style bulbs and the whole headlight burst into flames while driving one night. scary stuff. his fender and hood got cooked. had to replace all that. just giving a heads up.
