you mean the plate thing that the rear speakers mount to, correct? there is no need to take them out to remove sound deaening material...just paint them to match the rest of your interior...and also you can just sand off the little chunks left behind...since you are gonna paint the interior anyways rite?...it looks ugly if you just remove the sound deadening material and not paint over it...

i sanded the first, second one went on smooth. Then i used like 3 1/4 cans of black paint in the trunk along with 2 cans of clear coat. Ima take a picture then upload it in a while
bare with the dust and debri
the small imperfections were silicone and tiny chunks of sound deadner left behind
i think that if i would have sanded the second coat of primer it would have came out better... but 1, its the trunk, and 2, i am not too picky on the interor

but warning, please use gloves, u dont want that ice to stick to ur skin and dont use water to take it off.. It will burn like crazy. Use gloves. Let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes i guess
