your buying too high of wattage bulbs if they burn out often. look on automotive lighting forums ive learned alot about hid retrofits. for future reference call the "slim lights" kouki lights

i've done it to my car, you just need the H1 conversion kit
real simple to do, took 45 minutes for me, it would have been faster but i have to take out my battery and stock intake plastic piping to get to the headlights

What about the cutoff of the HID's? I know they can be retrofit easily but most stock HID's have a light cutoff at the inside top of the projector. How bright are the HID's to oncoming traffic without this cutoff?

i tht it was that hard at first but its alot easier. all you have to do is take off the corners and loosten those 2 bolts on either side and then loosten the ones on the rad support and take grill and both lights in one piece. btw got any pics of the hidness?

hmm no not really i guess just take your time and do it correctly, plus you dont really have much to worry about since these things are waterproof, there's a demo of them putting the entire setup in a fishtank on the site if you didnt see it before

what you guys dont understand is the highter the K the less light you have.

its not about showing how the color looks on the car its about showing the cuttoff and beam pattern AGAINST a wall

my Catz H1 HID kit, will fit s15 headlights and 97-98 240sx headlights.

these are for sale by the way.

on the car...below are against the wall

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...4/IM000587.jpg

dont mind the leveling those are taken after i put on my conversion and DID NOT adjust the headlights.

look at the beam pattern it gives off a colorful flicker on the left headlight[flicker is the blue/purple you see when u are in front of a BMW etc etc]

also notice how SHARP the step is on the right headlights, its so sharp that i can trace it with a pencil

also notice there is no light ABOVE the cutoff...that is a VERY good thing. any light above cutoff = glare. glare = bad. glare is what shines onto oncoming traffic and gets you high beamed back.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...mpwhite004.jpg

notice how fuzzy those cutoffs are and look how there is glare all over the place. having your headlights look like one big BLOB is not a good thing, means beam pattern is all ****ed

those are the Catz HID Supreme White kit i have for sale. they are 480 shipped and i cn guarentee you you cannot get this kit for that cheap no more. after the "hid ban" catz is no longer in the US. they give off a blue/white color and the bulbs are not tinted like catz old kit.

yes it true that the higher the kelvin rating the less bright the bulbs will be but IMO any HID kit will be plenty bright enough for anyone

your going to get the best lighting from 1000k-6000k. i think 6k is the brightest light that can be seen and still looks blue-ish

and how come you did a H1 converstion and not H4?

h4 is for the sealed beam s13s. h4 is bixenon low and high beam. h1 is standard on kouki s14but the only real way to retro fit hid however is d2s bulbs and projectors that way it meets dot sae stuffs and is higher quality. i decided not to do hid unless i was to do the "real" way and its very costly. a good site to read up on is automotivelightingforums.com FAQ section
