Interior, REAL HIDs and a bit more
 

Yeah, I love when holidays come around...I actually get some real time to work on my stuff. I've done quite a bit lately. H4 conversion, HID install (not those fake ones...check below for a nice comparison photo). Also took out my dash, console and trim pieces to fix the cracks and retexture and paint them to match the outside of the car (satin black). Not to mention the "demon eyes" I finished up yesterday. Oh and hopefully tomorrow I'll get to wire everything in the dash. Some switches and power indicators need to go in...and still not sure where to put them, I'm not going to loose my cigarette holder under my stereo, lol.

your "real" HID's look like ****, should have gone with 6k if you wanted visibility.

and ive never heard of "fake" HID's they are either HID or they arn't there are no fake HID's if you cant understand that then ill make it simple if your bulb isnt connected to a box called a ballast then its not an HID.

Fake HIDs are everywhere, at least around here. I can go to any shop or places like AutoZone and even Wal-Mart and they have bulbs that have "HID" written on them in big letters. Most are Xenon headlights.

It was my personal preference to go with the 8000k lights rather then the 6000k lights. Between the two, I don't see much visibility difference. And, I've seen so many different light ranges.

My camera picks up the blue a bit much. If you look at the 2nd comparison photo you can see that there isn't as much blue in them.

So either way you blind people on the road and make it safer for you driving, but more dangerous for everyone else... You should be ashamed of yourself.

So everyone that drives a new car should be ashamed? I doubt that. Any newer, hell even 2000 Lexus, BMW, Infinity, even the 2010 Camaro has HIDs. So nope, not ashamed here. I'm tired of people blinding me with their headlights. Stock headlights are extremely dim compared to what I am used to.

And for the non haters here, got a better comparison shot tonight. This time I used a better camera.

from what i've seen on the streets i would have to say the that the problem isn't the lights per se. it's the fact that many times they have to be retro fitted and are not installed properly. instead on being aimed slightly away from oncoming traffic, they usually are pointing directly at oncoming traffic. that and they tend to be a spectrum that literally isn't pleasing to the eyes.

I agree completely. But I know how to aim headlights so that isn't going to be a problem. What we have found (out of the 5-10 people in Joplin I know that kits) is to aim them slightly inside and a bump lower then normal. So you get almost twice as bright headlights but without blinding people driving at you or in front of you. Plus it keeps the cops from pulling people over. Even though they are legal here.

I'll be happy when I finish putting all my interior in. Hopefully it'll be done tomorrow. Just have to finish with a bit of wiring and then the drivers side can be finish. Already have the dash, console, gauge area and glove box in.

Well The HID's Lexus uses are Designed for a reflector Type such as the IS300's, it's a D1R bulb. It has a shield on the bottom to keep a proper beam pattern. Also the BMW's and such use projectors, it has a cut-off the only time it blinds you in when the hit a bump and the front lifts up, it's not a constant beam of light in your face.

Your housings were not designed for HID's thus you have a ****ty beam pattern. Yes you have more lightoutput but now other ppl can't see. Yeah you can aim it down and in but your only reducing how far you can see.

also +1 on 6000k but to each his own.

Yeah I aimed them down so the shine on drivers isn't bad, about like any other HID and the distance I can see is still more then I could with my factory headlights.

Also, I may end up getting a set of the projector headlights for the car (non halo type) after christmas. I'll just sell my other lamps and the bulbs that came with them. Won't be hard. Just not sure on projector headlights. I owned a set on my last car (98 eclipse) but they ruined the headlight beam completely. An they were name brand projector lights too, maybe cheap eBay ones will work better, lol.

The only REAL hid's are oem hid projectors and associated parts made by phillips, bosch, kioto, hella, denso, mitsubishi, stanley etc. here is something to consider:

Yeah I know now how a projector lamp actually works. 6 years ago when I had my old projector lights I did not have HIDs in the eclipse, so I couldn't see much of anything at night and switched back to the factory lights. So this time around when I asked myself if I wanted "standard" headlamps or projector type headlamps I remembered back when I had projectors and they sucked. So I went with plan old headlamps. Which are working just fine for now and are working just fine for the hand full of people I locally know that have aftermarket HID kits.

Sometime I will end up swapping over to projectors and when I do I'll do a comparison like I did above, with the bulbs. I still like my HIDs and don't regret spending the money on them.

Other news, my wheels will be here monday :) at least UPS says so...

Oh and I do have the interior installed...not to shabby. Dash isn't all cracked anymore so that's a plus. One piece to modify for a switch panel and it's done for now. Ah, got to love my old ass grant steering wheel. Had it in almost every vehicle I have ever owned :)
