my 240 has side moldings!?

my 240 has side moldings!?
this is really weird, but my 89 fast back, gunmetal color, has side moldings.. whats that about? all my friends 240s dont have them.

yeha i wish mine didnt have any, but i think i can take them off. and for the people who have them and have taken them off, any tips? thanks
