yea the damn wing is foam with a metal insert that rusts over time along with the mounts to the rear hatch.

heres what it looks like after its taken off..

does this problem only happen with the hatch with the foam spoiler, or also for the coupe w/ factory spoiler??

Im not sure if they coupe has the foam spoiler, but if it does then i can gaurentee that it happens on the coupe too.
