Why is my clip confused you say? I'll explain further down.

Very nice condition digital climate control in my clip.

 

Now here is where it gets confusing. My "redtop" (as billed from Phase2) appears to have the vertical fins on the head and bolt indents on the valve cover that only blacktops had. Sorry for the poor quality....

 

Well if that's a red '98 blacktop, then why the hell do I have a #62 ECU in a 1998 180sx?

 

And why is this old style gauge cluster in a 1998 180sx? That's only 63k k/m BTW.

 

Big brake upgade for my 240sx, stock for the kouki 180sx. Yet more proof of this being a '98....

 

...ur clip is really confused haha. The person that owned it in japan probably did a guage swap and a ecu swap....? Im totally confused o0h yea..looks like a nice clip

 

Yeah tell me about it. I forgot to mention the steering wheel it came with was also for the older S13's....

 

0k im guessing they swaped engines...thats the most logical answer...i think

 

Doesn't explain the head's fins and valve covers indents where the bolts go though.

They didn't make the 180SX in 1998. 1997 was the last year they made it (I believe). The confusion may come from the fact that a 1998 SR means that it was 1998 CCs. It wasn'r really a 2.0 liter. The clip isn't a 1997... it looks older to me. The red top looks normal to me...just like my 1993. The black top has NO vertical grooves for the bolts ...the red top DOES. 1997 180SX's had blacktops.
