My stockish engine
engine bay... pretty stock looking except for the 8.5mm wires, short intake, and the generic strut tower bar... everything else is inside

You should've seen it when I brought it home from Arizona, where I bought it. Looked like a mudbath.
That picture is the result of 3 cans of engine degreaser, 3 different steel brushes, Simple Green, a bunch of rags, Armor All, belt dressing, and about 3 hours of hard labor.
The painting part took about 30 minutes, not counting drying time
On a side note, the interior was also so dusty, it reminded me of the beach on a windy day. I also cleaned everything in there... practically ripped the entire interior out and cleaned each part piece by piece. I guess I'm one of thse car guys.
When I initially bought the car I liked how the interior was pretty complete, and the engine was running really good. But - it was super dirty everywhere! Now it's just the paint that I don't like, but in due time...
If the seller saw the car now, he'd probably regret selling it to me for $4100

Definately a clean engine bay rainy, well done. I bet you put quite a few hours under that hood! Paint matches the strut bars, did you paint that as well? You did a great job on the valve cover, like how the Nissan still shines. What paint did you use?

After I took the valve cover off, I hit it with a steel brush to loosen up all the gunk on it (there wasn't much since I had cleaned the engine when I first got it) spray-cleaned it with brake cleaner, rinsed with soap and water, then towel dry. I must have sprayed about 2 loats of primer then about 5-6 coats of....

Yup, old reliable Krylon. I know they have high-temp engine paint out there, but I used Krylon on my last car and it worked perfect! I had 2 cans of paint for the job; when I reinstalled the valve cover I noticed the strut tower bar looking plain, so I painted the rings on it as well.
