Talking Painted my valve cover

Hey guys! Had a little project this past weekend.
I painted my valve cover red.
Took a little while to mask off the silver parts, but it came out really nice!

NOTE: It was REALLY sunny when i took the pics, so the cover looks orange, its very glossy. I'll take some pics when its darker to get the true color. I used Duplicolor: Chrysler Industrial Red Engine Enamel.

Looks good! I did a similar job on my engine a couple years ago, I'll try and get some pictures soon.

I used to silver engine paint and used alot of simple green and steel wool to prep the cover. After painting it, it looked too glossy since it was silver,so I gave the paint a quick steel wool and it actually looks really good.

Thanks guys!

To clean 16 years of ****, I used F21 Wheel cleaner (cover is same material as some rims), and 360grit Sandpaper. I also used some sort of house-hold cleaner.
DONT USE STEEL WOOL, that will put deep scratches that will show through the paint. AHH!
360 grit is good stuff, just right for this job.

I...
Sanded, 5 coats primer, about 5 coats of paint, wet-sand, coat of paint.

Thanks guys!

hehe .. yeah a filter would be nice, but its going straight to an AEM short-ram soon enough. For right now, its just a cut box with no restricter.

Thanks, but i'll build my car how i want. No cheap ****.

PS. I didn't brush the letters, i sanded with 360grit and taped them off when i sprayed, that is the color of the stock head.
