Air enters the rear of a popped hood. Base of the winshield is a high pressure area. Why do you think the hvac vents are down there?

Ive done the propped hood thing and saw some cooling advantages at higher speeds. The hood would work more like a cowl hood then a vented hood. It looks kinda cool, but it makes washing your car a big ordeal, cause water gets into your engine bay too easily. Ive actually put my hood back to stock it was just to much of a hassle, but if you really want to do it i spent maybe 5 bucks on the whole thing. Just thought Id put in my 2 cents.

Wanna know an real good way to let hot air escape your engine bay?? Take your hood off.

I don't like the look of it, makes the whole purpose of fluid look and flush lines totally a waste. "Lets make all the lines and gaps even and flush....oh but the hood, lets give it an inch gap for ****s and giggles."

Just my opinion. Don't pay attention to me

Lol, well i just look at it this way. I would rather get a Carbon Fiber hood with an intake or something. That way i wouldn't have to worry too much about the water coming into the engine bay too easily, like KuhnDawg said. Granted it's alot cheaper, but it would look cooler i think.

reverse vents let air out in turn bringing more air in threw your rad./intercooler

iv done it becouse i took out the heat padding on my hood it lets the hot air escape faster then just sitting in the engine bay...

It really looks retarded to me. If i saw somebody with the hood like this I woul ask if It was busted in an accident or something.

There are drains near the windshield lower part and the hood that make the water go to the floor when its raining and the wipers trow the water there. Don't be like me and get them cloged with fiberglass resin. It would help is you had a biguer fan or something that increased the airflow at lower speeds. Its like exaust: Why put a good pipe at the end and still have the cat, silencer, headers, piping, etc? One thing goes with the other.

Of course, one can't buy the whole thing at once, I understand the reason for cooling the engine. As for the due who worte that the headers were melting his distributor, you can get that header covering that prevents infrared heat fro mscaping from your pipes. now you might be thinking of something like a rag, but they come in black, and crome types

You mean cowl induction? Like the old chevys?!? its a complicatedtheory, but the way the cowl is shaped makes it draw air, much like how if youre driving a pickup truck and have stuff in the bed and it rains while youre on the highway, it doesnt get wet... until you stop that is lol... but more importantly if im not mistaken the cowl induction hood was an integral part of the intake system... with the carbs on the top of the motor and all
